Public Health Department

The general functions of the department are as follow:

The specific functions of the sub-units are as follow:

The San Juan Market has the potential to be an economic magnet for small and micro businesses.

The market is the location for the retail of fresh produce from the northern agriculture areas of Santa Cruz and the southern areas in Aranguez. The market is owned and managed by the Corporation and houses agricultural and livestock vendors offering a variety of agricultural products. There are currently between 75‐ 100 vendors operating out of this building and numerous other agro vendors and other retail outlets spilled over into streets and private outlets alike.

MEAT AND FISH SECTION

  • The fish area is separate from the meat area to avoid cross contamination.

OPENING AND CLOSING HOURS

  • Monday – Saturday 6:00am -6:00pm
  • Sunday and Public Holidays – 6:00am -11:00am
  • Field Surveys.
  • Pre-Baiting and Baiting Operations.
  • Revisits.

Solid Waste Collection

  • Preparation and updating of refuse collection schedules.
  • Preparation of proposals/contracts for special events (e.g. Carnival/Easter and Clean up Campaigns)
  • Analysis of reports prepared by surveillance team.

Faecal Waste Collection

  • Scheduling of house visits / routing.
  • Field supervision.
  • Supervision of pre inspection team.
